Here are some facts you should know about a registered agent in North Dakota:

"registered agent," "statutory agent" and "resident agent" are three names for the same thing: an agent authorized by a company to receive documents and notices. (Since the three terms all refer to a Resident of the state acting as an AGENT, we have coined the term "ragent" to include them all. We're working on "statutory" as part of the acronym. We're considering "ragenstat.").

Your North Dakota "ragent" may be (1) a domestic company formed under North Dakota corporate law (2) a foreign corporation authorized to transact business in North Dakota or (3) an adult individual who resides in North Dakota.

It is important to note that a North Dakota registered agent, whether of the resident or statutory variety, must have a North Dakota street address rather than a post office box. This is the reason why some states use "resident agent" --- to stress this requirement.
