Either way you can expect our Maryland registered agent to deliver quality service at a reasonable price: $99 per year. An experienced corporate lawyer after many years as a statutory agent founded , a network of practicing lawyers. The network extends from Maine to Hawaii and Alaska to Florida, including DC.

offers dependable registered agent, statutory agent, and resident agent service everywhere, plus other corporate and legal services. Trademarks and service marks are among them. If you are considering a Canadian operation, we can help you setup an extra-provincial corporation north of the border.

You should also know the following facts about a registered agent in Maryland:

"registered agent," "statutory agent" and "resident agent" are three names for the same thing: an agent authorized by a company to receive documents and notices. (Since the three terms all refer to a Resident of the state acting as an AGENT, we have coined the term "ragent" to include them all). Maryland, however, threw us a curve by using the additional term "clerk." It all means the same thing.

Your Maryland registered agent must be either (1) a domestic company formed under Maryland corporate law (2) a foreign corporation authorized to transact business in Maryland or (3) an adult individual who resides in Maryland. Because neither an LLC (limited liability company) formed under Maryland law nor a foreign LLC is specifically mentioned as eligible to be a registered agent, an inquiry to the Maryland State Department of Assessments and Taxation(SDAT) office is recommended if your agent is a limited liability company. The SDAT in Maryland has responsibility for corporate regulation as does the secretary of state in most other states. We do not recommend an amateur for this responsibility.

It is important to note that a Maryland resident agent must have a Maryland street address rather than a post office box and that the registered agent must sign a consent to be resident agent and file it with the Maryland State Department of Assessments and Taxation.

APPOINTING A NEW MARYLAND REGISTERED AGENT

We invite newly formed companies to consider our service, as well as companies previously formed who presently have an overpriced resident agent, or a registered agent whose quality and dependability as a point of contact may be doubtful.

If you are creating a new company yourself (or qualifying your company to do business in a new state by yourself) and are interested in our registered agent services, just check the first box when you order online. (If you want legal assistance in the formation process, you may want to contact 4inc.com, which is also affiliated with the Inc.Link® network of corporate professionals.)

If you are an existing company and desire to change your registered agent in Maryland, you may do so at any time by filing a resolution to change your registered agent with SDAT, the Maryland agency charged with regulation of companies. The Maryland State Department of Assessments and Taxation (SDAT) for our purposes is the counterpart of the secretary of state in most other states.

When you order online, we complete this form and send it to you for signature. Upon its return (signed) to us we handle its filing and also pay the change fee to the Maryland State Department of Assessments and Taxation. They make the change according to their schedule.

Another plan has you signing the form first and sending it to us for completion including filing with the Maryland State Department of Assessments and Taxation --- along with the filing fee. You may use the corporation change of Maryland registered agent form at http://www.dat.state.md.us/sdatweb/ch_addr.PDF. Just sign it and get it to us and we will take care of the rest.

Remember, if your present agent is prepaid for a period of time, you can direct us not to make the change until that period of time has expired.
